I sent out a quick, last minute email mid-week to the folks that are on our email list. Steve & I made goodie bags of onions and garlic, cleared out his wood shop, set up a coffee and tea station, and put out our "OPEN" flag. We were delighted to have many of our friends drop by for coffee and fellowship. It must have been the "magic" of the day for everyone lingered and visited in our make-shift winter farm stand. There is so much to be said for the community part of sustainability. It is clear to Steve & me that sustainability requires a move from the "me" world to the "we" world; folks who enjoy caring and sharing. ~Carol
It was so good to see our neighbors, friends and loyal customers this past Saturday. Steve & I decided to give away some of our abundant supply of onions and garlic. We had sold them at the farm stand and at the Monadnock Co-op in Keene, NH during the summer selling season. Once we closed the stand for the season in late October, we carried the surplus harvest to the basement. Just last week I checked the condition and freshness of the remaining garlic and onion. I realized that we had more than enough to last until our next harvest. Since I also wanted to show our appreciation in some way to our loyal customers, it seemed like the perfect idea to give away some of our bounty.
